THEODORA AND THE HOMELAND

Original,  2021_ Oil on Canvas_ 30 in. x 39 in.

^{THEODORA AND THE HOMELAND is an oil on canvas floral landscape about what is currently happening in the United States of America today as our freedoms are suddenly at risk of being lost forever.  It is an homage to a Country that historically has had more freedom than anywhere else in the World and has been a beacon of freedom and hope to many throughout the World.  The name "Theodora" means "God's gift."  God's gift is our Homeland. We must protect it.}

^{(Something mysterious appears out of place in this beautiful land & hovers in plain sight.  We note it’s presence & perhaps question it for a fleeting moment before forgetting about it entirely, or accepting and ignoring it.  What is this mysterious thing we do not challenge when it first appears? )}

^{The United States of America is a beautiful melting pot with People from all over the World who have come to this Country seeking opportunities for better and freer lives. The immeasurable gift of freedom many assume will always be.  It is not given to any of us by another in the United States, but is an inalienable right endowed on us by our Creator.  It is a beautiful thing!  No one has a right to take those freedoms away from a free People.  From any People.  It is a gift that needs to be recognized, guarded over, and yes -  because of its fragility -  treasured and cared for.}

Addendum:

(I am continuing my work developing 'Sculptural Expressionism' in Theodora as well as with a piece I'm calling Saoirse's Garden,  by adding 3-D insects sculpted out of the oils.  I chose a ladybug because they are 'good luck.'  I'm moving on to bumble bees next!  They are SO JOYFUL & FUN, and I'm hoping that they will get small children who view Theodora interested in the arts!  These sculptural elements are for the next & future generations of artists, collectors & art lovers of all ages!)
