ABOUT THIS PAINTING
The Australia Gem Series was painted during the horrific wildfires in Australia that began prior to the 2020 Pandemic. I was moved by what was happening to millions and millions of defenseless animals throughout the land that were being seriously injured and/or killed. Watching the coverage was extremely difficult for me. I wanted to go to Australia to help out with rescue efforts, but then came the Pandemic. The palette of this oil on canvas painting reflects colors that I was seeing as images of the fires poured in daily. (There are only 3 pieces in this group as the series was 'cut short' by the Pandemic.)
Over a billion animals lost their lives during the wildfires that ravaged the countryside and devastated Australia in 2019 in the months just prior to the Worldwide Pandemic of 2020.
